You can have great one-to-one text "conversations" on Instant Messaging (IM) or you can
chat to a whole lot of people in a QQ chatroom. You can debate, flirt or just hang out. It's up to you.

• First, make sure that you have downloaded, installed and registered as a QQ user.
• Click on the speech bubble on the QQ control panel. This opens the QQ Chatroom message window.
• To chat, simply type your message in the message window and click Enter.
• Everyone in the chatroom can read what you are typing, so if you want to have a private conversation with another person in the chatroom you can "whisper" to them. To do this, click on their nickname in the main chat window, select their name in the To: panel and check the Whisper checkbox.
• You can also "drag" a chatroom buddy into your Buddy List and continue your chat over IM .

Speak to your buddies as if you're talking to them on the telephone. Every giggle, every

  1. Hardware requirements: Pentium or AMD CPU, audio sound card, microphone and headphone or speakers. We recommend you use a headphone with a microphone, not a speaker, which will give you higher audio quality.
  2. Software requirements: Windows 2000/XP operating system.
• Make sure you have a headset with a microphone..
• Check that you are running the latest version of QQ with improved Voice Chat. To see which version you have:
  1. Click on the Menu option on the QQ control panel.
  2. Select Help.
  3. Then click on About. If the screen mentions the "GIPS voice engine" you have the latest version.

To adjust the volume of your voice chat, speak into the microphone of your headset and adjust the record volume and playing volume on the right of the QQ Voice Chat message window.

QQ Voice Chat will work over a dial-up connection but for excellent quality Voice Chat (or Video Messaging) an ADSL or ISDN connection is recommended. .
