USDCAD Market continues to drift from our favoured selling level at 1.0323 after the 9 count sell set-up on the 11th of June. I continue to favour taking back shorts around parity as the market continues to have a rangy feel to it, and I wouldn’t look at selling weakness in the market unless we get a qualified break through the now higher TDST support at 0.9869. Medium term target remains the 2007 lows of 0.9057. TDMA1 now pointing south and likely to fall from the charts today. I have added the MACD histogram with TD Combo applied – it gave a 13 count sell signal on Monday. I have highlighted other recent 13 counts and it looks to have done a great job in forecasting changes in direction

AUDUSD Market continuing a mini recovery after the decline from the mid 96’s and I wouldn’t be averse to cutting tactical shorts from 0.9632 here as we continue to see this current move as counter-trend to a longer bull that will see the Aussie trade to parity against the greenback.. Market closed bang on TDMA1 resistance yesterday, which had moved to 0.9436 by the close. Potential buy set-up now unlikely as we’ll need to close below 0.9346 tonight to see Bar 8 of the formation. As noted yesterday, keep your eye on AUDJPY which posted a 13 count sell countdown on TD Combo (and is on a 12 count on TD Sequentials today) which is a perennially violent cross when it wants to turn tail. If you want to be short the Aussie, I think you’ll get more bang for your buck owning some 1 month 15 delta AUD put/JPY calls.

9 count sell set-up likely today, but we’ll need to see a rally above 212.92 for it to become ‘qualified’ (bar 8 or 9 must have traded above the highs of both 6 and 7 in a sell set-up for it to be ‘qualified’) We continue to sit just below our favoured selling level at 213.78 TDST resistance with the UK inflation numbers not quite giving us the kick we needed to get there before Mervyn King’s explanatory letter saw Sterling get hit on a broad basis. TDMA1 suggests tactical longs on closes above 210.42 today but our longer-term bear view and the chance of entering some structural shorts with good risk reward continue to be our primary focus. Former resistance reverts to support at 209.12 but we are looking for a long-term move to 157-160 so the risk reward will be heavily in your favour at shorting the market should we rally to 213.00/78

EURJPY TDMA1 continues to suggest a long position on closes above 166.63, but the market posted a 9 count sell set-up yesterday and the proximity to the risk level from the recent 13 count sequential sell countdown at 168.38 makes a short stance favoured here. Pullbacks to TDST support at 162.22 possible. Not my favourite cross as I like both currencies from a long-term perspective, but we are near levels where the market failed in July, October and November 2007 so I’d rather be a small bear here. Again, the MACD histogram produced a 13 count on TD Combo recently It happened 5 sessions ago.
